Kensa Boudoir is an empowering makeover photoshoot studio based in Exeter with an additional location in Cardiff. Run by photographers Karen and Julie, the business has spent a decade specialising in confidence-building photography experiences for real, everyday people across the South West.
What sets them apart is their inclusive, trauma-informed approach. They've photographed over 3,000 women and actively welcome clients of all ages, genders, sizes, shapes, abilities and backgrounds. This includes brides, new mothers, people navigating relationship changes, survivors of abuse, those transitioning, cancer patients and anyone struggling with confidence or mental health. Their philosophy directly challenges the stereotypical "sexy bedroom" associations with boudoir photography—clients can wear whatever makes them comfortable, from full clothing to lingerie.
The experience is fully guided from consultation to final images. Free phone or in-person consultations allow nervous clients to discuss the process without pressure. Karen and Julie are attuned to insecurities and work at a pace that prioritises comfort, recognising that many clients are anxious about being photographed.
Julie holds a licentiateship with the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers and manages their substantial social media presence (nearly 16,000 followers). The business accepts flexible payment options including Klarna and Clearpay, removing financial barriers to access.
Their studio operates by appointment, with extended hours Tuesday through Saturday.
